Why me?

Telling the stories that need to be told.

In January, I saw a social media post from a young man in my community who was planning to walk to Amsterdam to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health and suicide prevention. I recognised a valuable story, and offered to support him with publicity.

I met with and interviewed him, and organised photo shoots in Caldicot and Chepstow.

I wrote, produced and posted multimedia content to share his story with the community and encourage individuals to donate to his cause.

I used existing and new relationships to gain substantial coverage of his story.

I organised a motorcycle send-off from Caldicot Castle, which your Senior Reporter Mark Elson kindly covered.

Results-driven: measurement and evaluation

I wrote 7 releases and shared or placed over 35 individual pieces of content by the time he completed his walk, gaining coverage on BBC News, ITV Wales, Wales Online, Western Mail, Capital FM, BBC Radio Oxford, and regional media across England and Wales, and on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.

Over £6500 was raised, from more than 420 donations.

I know, from evaluation of links, that more than 320 clicks on the relevant crowd funding page were accessed from content I posted.

Creative social media content

Long walk to Amsterdam: Here is the link to a video I edited and posted, using audio from a BBC Radio interview which I set up for Dan Simms, and images I photographed: Leonie Roberts (@leonieroberts_photography) • Instagram photos and videos

The tale of two ponies: In September last year, I interviewed a volunteer from an equine rescue organisation based in Malta, and photographed two rescue ponies as they arrived in Magor. Here is the reel I posted, which gained over 180k views, and 19.4k likes: Leonie Roberts (@leonieroberts_photography) • Instagram photos and videos, and here is the article I wrote, with my own photos: Honey and Caramel – rescue from Malta to Magor – Leonie Roberts Photography

Media coverage, interviews and imagery

Below are a number of examples of previous media coverage and publicity I’ve handled for Welsh Government Ministers, influencers and other clients.

Why this role?

I’m looking for an interesting local role where I can use my storytelling and content production skills, my nose for a story, and my empathetic people skills to cover local news stories which inform, entertain and engage the local community.
